Anthony's story goes back to several years in the 70s when he was born into this world as a normal child, i.e. without a disability. However, a polio attack at the age of two left him paralysed. Being a firstborn in a family of seven, his parents tried all things possible to help him live a normal life as other children.
In the early 80’s Anthony was enrolled in class 1 at Joytown Special Primary School for the Physically Handicapped in Thika. Here he focused on education and after 8 years, he sat for his KCPE.  He passed and was admitted to the prestigious Alliance High School in Kikuyu from where he sat for his KCSE exams. He passed and joined the University of Nairobi from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Economics.
The next thing was to start job searching or, as it is popularly called, tarmacking. After 4 years, he got a job with a local NGO, he worked there for about a year and a half; he left and went to tarmacking again. It was during this time that he was invited for an interview at Safaricom PLC. This was after applying twice unsuccessfully. He went through an aptitude test and computer test after which he was called for an oral interview. He passed all of them and in 2007, he joined Safaricom PLC as a Customer Care Representative (CCR). Anthony has now been in Safaricom for over 15 years. From CCR, he went to Support Analyst, Quality Analyst (QA) and now a Team Leader (TL).
In addition to all this, Anthony is an MC, Disability Inclusion Champion, Motivational/Inspirational Speaker, Entrepreneur and a Sunday School teacher. He is married and a father of two, a boy and a girl.

To get to where he is today, he has had to overcome a myriad of challenges key among them being stigma. Others are accessibility especially to public transport and amenities and high cost of assistive devices. Get a job was also not easy.

Working at Safaricom has truly transformed his life and that of others. For instance, he has been able to educate his siblings, buy some assets among other things.

His message to persons with disabilities is never give up. There is hope beyond disability.

"To the others let us look at disability as ‘our issue’ because we are all candidates," he affirms.
His hobbies include:
  • Travelling
  • Listening to music
  • Watching cartoons/ children's animations
